规划团队力求最大限度地保护规划区域内的村落肌理、空间格局、巷道尺度、环境绿化和文物与历史建筑的真实历史信息，保护古村内的整体历史风貌、民俗风情，延续古村的历史发展脉络；同时坚持物质与非物质文化遗产整体保护，保护与利用并重、可持续利用等原则，对澄迈县传统村落进行了整体价值与特色评估，并进一步明确村庄保护功能分区、保护措施、传统建筑保护策略、街巷保护策略。在此基础上，对村庄的发展和未来旅游产业导入、遗产展示提出明确要求，为传统村落优化发展及申报历史文化遗产奠定了基础。
